EA, which as of March 2012 had 9,000 employees worldwide, said it has been realigning its organisational structure behind new technologies and mobile.
“This has led to some difficult decisions to reduce the workforce in some locations,” the company said in a blog post. “We are extremely grateful for the contributions made by each of our employees -- those that are leaving EA will be missed by their colleagues and friends.”
How many staff will be leaving the company has not been announced, but gaming news site Polygon says it is in the hundreds, while Kotaku sources allegedly said 10 per cent of EA’s workforce will depart.
“These are hard but essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us,” EA said.
