Mwangondi achieved the certification through an e-Class initiative provided at Safaricom to develop skills. Oracle Certified Master qualification is considered the most advanced in Database Administration in the telecommunications industry.
Speaking during the inaugural E-Class graduation ceremony, Safaricom's chief executive officer Bob Collymore said: "As an employer of choice, we have made a conscious decision to invest in E-Class because it allows our staff to broaden their horizons in a manner that allows them to fit in their work and family schedules."
Safaricom claims it is among the few companies that invest in its employees to develop their skills and knowledge of the marketplace.
"Some of these qualifications not only set us apart from other companies in Kenya, but they also earn us a unique position in Africa, given that there are few people who have successfully completed such courses," Collymore said.
Another 226 members of staff were also recognised for having attained e-Class certifications in various disciplines, with a further 32 employees being honoured for attaining Prince2 Project management practitioners qualifications.
