The Mail on Sunday reports police have sought the help of Apple in accessing the phone, which was found on the bathroom floor the night Pistorius shot dead model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
HumanIPO reported recently an iPhone allegedly belonging to Steenkamp was central to the police investigation into Pistorius, who is accused of murdering Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day this year. It is one of four phones recovered from the scene.
Prosecutors believe one phone may contain important information, though Pistorius cannot remember the passcode.
Lieutenant General Vineshkumar Moonoo, leading the investigation, told the Mail on Sunday: “Pistorius is saying he can’t remember the code and we have been unable to access messages sent or received that night.
“These could be crucial and Apple executives in America have made their technicians available to help us.
“I cannot say Pistorius’s memory failure is suspicious but the mobile phones were clearly in use up to the time of the killing.”
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel has already said the mobile phones could be important and examination was vital.
