Nigeria’s major local search engine upgrades website, lists 500,000th verified business

Share Tweet
Nigeria’s major local search engine, VConnect, has redesigned its website after receiving recommendations from users and because its expanding services and coverage made the revamp a necessity.

According to the management of VConnect, the make-over gives the site a fresh look and makes it more user-friendly. The speed of searching has been made faster and the accuracy has significantly improved.

Deepankar Rustagi, General Manager of VConnect Global Services Limited, said: "The new look VConnect gives a better resolution, it is faster both on laptop and desktops with more friendly interface for the users and there has been a drastic increase in the number of users connecting due to these improvements.”

He also revealed within two years, the website has crossed the 500,000 mark for listed and verified businesses. According to him, a larger percentage of the companies are Small and Medium Enterprises (SME's).

"We have taken the feedback from the users on mobile application and have improved based on local needs and have optimised it to smartphones and Android phones. We took users inputs to improve the search response. For instance if the search is on fashion, from the user input, it will recognize whether user is male of female and will respond accordingly," he said.
