Debate is raging as to whether an image from Google Maps is an aerial view of a bloody corpse or a wet dog.
The image of Verstoppertjebrug, a wooden pier near Almere, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on Google Maps has been under question since it was noted by an anonymous online surfer recently.
HumanIPO has reported on previous conversation-sparking Google pics, including the alleged death of a donkey in Botswana earlier this year.
According to the measurement of the distance-indicating Google tool, the wet smudge on the pier is estimated at five feet.
Corpse-believers deem this as bloody evidence, whereas those opting for the dog view merely regard it as water.
In support of the possible murder story, British paper The Sun reported: “The figure does resemble a human body lying down, with the ‘head’ on the right and the ‘feet’ on the left.”
According to The Sun, the wet print can lead to the interpretation that the body-like figure has been dragged across the pier and flipped over.
Despite its recent detection, the photo was apparently snapped in 2009.
Nevertheless, the image was submitted to local police in the hope of an attempted investigation to uncover the mystery.
The photo also evoked various responses on social media.
