Konga.com, Nigeria’s online mall, unveiled the continent’s largest e-commerce fulfillment warehouse in Lagos yesterday (Monday), covering 120,000 square feet.
The e-commerce store has also appointed Alex Kamara as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Regarding the new centre, Konga stated: “Logistics is the bedrock of any successful retailer, and today marks a turning point in our business and for Nigeria as a whole.
“With this new distribution centre we are demonstrating our commitment to powering retail in Nigeria by building a company that Nigerians will be proud to use and associate with around the world.”
Kamara said the fulfillment centre meets the company’s immediate needs and allows for expansion.
“We can actually utilise four times the space we currently occupy by introducing a second level above the first,” Kamara said.
“This FC therefore provides a durable platform for the physical operations of the business.”
Concerning the company, he said its success story is not restricted to Nigeria but for the entire continent.
He said: “Konga is a fantastic Nigerian story. But it is actually bigger than that. It is an African story and we are really committed to this vision of a world-class e-commerce platform for Nigeria and more broadly, for Africa.
“We are not there yet by any stretch but we are moving in the right direction and making progress every day.”
