Intel to relaunch Create Your Tomorrow campaign in Nigeria

Intel has said it is ready to relaunch its Create Your Tomorrow initiative in Nigeria following its successful initiation last year teaching students the value of ICTs in their future careers.

Speaking at the fourth EduNet Africa 2014 at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, Stanley Muoneke, strategic relationship manager for West Africa at Intel, said the 2013 edition was very successful as it allowed participating students to learn how they could create their future today through the adoption of computer technology.

He said the initiative is also seeking to push IT as a tool that could become an asset and not an obstacle to the achievement of purposes.

“Through the initiative we are providing accessibility so that students can access technology. They could procure personal computers for as low as NGN5,000 (US$30) per month,” Muoneke said.

Through the initiative, he said technology could be put in the hands of many Nigerian students and could help in tackling ignorance.

“When more students have access to technology, we can easily banish ignorance. Give young people reasons to sit down and use their brain. We have massive amount of Nigerian youths in schools locally and internationally,” Muoneke said.

“We have an incredible generation of young people that are active and are ready to do anything. We need to channel such energy appropriately.”

He said young tech entrepreneurs in Nigeria should be encouraged to reach their full potential.

“We need to channel youths effectively so we are not sitting on a time bomb,” he said.
