Nairobi residents will no longer have to contend with long queues when paying for services after the county government launched an e-payment platform to ease payments and streamline revenue collection.
Among the services targeted are matatu seasonal ticketing, rent collection and market stalls.
In his speech during the launch Governor Evans Kidero said the e-payment for land rates and business permits was already working and had helped to reduce queues at City Hall.
“We have activated this system today and it is accessible to Nairobi residents intending to pay for seasonal parking or rent through their mobile phone handsets, authorized banks and agents, Huduma centres at Telepost Towers, City Square Post office and Makadara County offices and from a link on the county’s web portal,” said Kidero.
Nairobi deputy governor Jonathan Mueke said the county was working on the third phase of the e-payment modules that will see daily and seasonal parking for individuals go electronic as well.
