Justice Mariam Aloma Muhktar, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) has commissioned a case management system referred to as e-court that is aimed at improving the efficiency of the country’s judiciary system.
By automating and digitizing court operations, e-court is expected to help in tackling the slow dispensation of justice and its attendant backlog of cases.
“The automated court aligned with the vision of transforming from the current predominantly manual court processes and its attendant weaknesses, to technological solu-tions “tailor-made” for Nigerian Judiciary,” the CJN said.
The e-court is being piloted in 16 courts including the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Abuja and Lagos divisions, the Federal High Court Abuja and Lagos divisions, and the National Industrial Court Abuja and Lagos divisions.
