DA’s donation to OUTA welcomed by SANRAL

The South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) has welcomed the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) donation of ZAR1 million (US$101,000) towards the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance’s (OUTA) court case against e-tolling.

“The fact that OUTA will be able to face us in court is important. We believe that we have a strong legal case… OUTA has every right to have their voices heard, but it has come at great cost to South Africans and our economy,” Times Live quoted Vusi Mona, spokesperson for SANRAL, as saying.

HumanIPO reported earlier today the DA announced its plans to donate the funds to OUTA following its call for the public to assist in covering the legal costs involved.

Mona said it was no surprise that the DA decided to assist OUTA.

“SANRAL has long maintained that the DA has decided to politicise an issue which is essentially about infrastructural and economic development,” said Mona, who went on further to express his opinion that the DA has made OUTA its “political proxy”.
