The International Telecommunications Satellite Organization’s (ITSO) Assembly of Parties meeting is set to come to Africa for the first time. Uganda has been granted the honour of playing the host.
Uganda’s communication regulator, the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), revealed this in a statement adding that President Yoweri Museveni will be the event’s guest of honour.
The three-day event, scheduled to begin on July 3, is expected to be graced by at least 250 foreign dignitaries and diplomats, including ministers responsible for ICT.
Headquartered in Washington D.C., ITSO currently has 150 member countries of which Uganda is a member.
ITSO is an intergovernmental organization with the missionto ensure that Intelsat, Ltd. provides public telecommunications services, including voice, data and video, on a global and non-discriminatory basis.
It was founded in 1971 through an inter-governmental Agreement. ITSO serves to provide, on a commercial and non-discriminatory basis, global public international telecommunications services using satellite technology.
It will take place in the country’s capital Kampala at the Serena Conference Centre.
This will the 35th ITSO meeting since inception.
