Matthew Thackrah has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of Samsung Electronics South Africa. He currently holds the position of Head of Consumer Electronics and IT Solutions, which he will maintain as he will be working in dual roles, according to the company.
Thackrah has been working for Samsung SA for over 10 years.
On his new appointment and role, Thackrah said: “Having been with the Samsung brand for a number of years, I am pleased to accept this position and certainly look forward to the opportunity to not only add value to the brand, but to work with a team of exceptionally talented people.
“I will continue to focus on developing the broader consumer electronics market locally and across our African shores – enabling a more intuitive and smarter life for the consumer.”
He is said to have experience in retail management as well as strategy implementation.
Commenting on the new appointment, George Ferreira who is Vice President and COO at Samsung Electronics Africa said Matthew has a solid understanding of the business and this, coupled with his industry experience, leadership capabilities and expertise, makes him the perfect candidate for the role.
