Following the passing away of EMC’s Southern Africa country manager, Inana Nkanza, EMC has appointed Servaas Venter in his place in an acting capacity.
Venter takes over with immediate effect as the acting country manager for EMC Southern Africa. Before this role, he was the company’s area manager.
Nkanza passed away after a short illness on July 26, 2012. Before his passing, he had also held leadership and management positions amongst some of technology industries leading companies, in both South Africa and the rest of the world.
He arrived at EMC in 2010 and was appointed as the country manager. Previously, he was employed by SUN Microsystems South Africa as managing director. He also served at Computer Associates, Software Futures, CCH and MGX.
In a statement made last week, EMC’s Bill Scannell, President, Global Sales & Customer Operations, said Nkanza had passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning after a short illness.
Scannell had last week expressed his sadness saying the EMC team had been privileged to know Inana and to work with him.
“In his time with us we came to know an extraordinary man and leader: a visionary who was respected across our industry and who inspired those around him. We will miss him greatly, as a friend and a colleague. Our collective thoughts and prayers are with Inana’s family in their time of loss and mourning,” he said.
Nkanza is survived by his wife and three children.
