Social networking site Eskimi has overtaken Internet giants Google, Yahoo, BBC and Goal.com, to become second most visited site after Facebook in Nigeria and Namibia, according to Opera Software monthly report.
Eskimi’s chief executive Vytas Paukštys told HumanIPO that a few days back, Opera Software released its monthly State of the Mobile Web report, and this month focused on the growth of the mobile web browsing in Africa.
“I am proud that Eskimi became the 2nd most visited site in Nigeria and Namibia managing to overtake Google, Yahoo, BBC, Goal.com in Nigeria and Namibia during last 6 months,” Paukštys said.
With a population of over 130 million people, Nigeria remains Eskimi’s largest market with half of its audience of (over 7 million customers) coming from Nigeria.
In the report, Eskimi is also in the 10 most visited sits in Kenya (6), Mozambique (6), Zimbabwe (6), Zambia (3), Tanzania (4) and a few more countries.
Recently, Eskimi launched its money market platform that was aimed at bringing e-commerce to its Nigerian customers via special tools.
The platform allows Eskimi customers the opportunity to buy and test the new payment option to pay for a host of music, movie and mobile content.
