One of Nigeria’s rising job sites Jobberman has revealed its intentions to be a force to reckon with throughout Africa.
Jobberman is an online resource where job seekers can find work, through posts made by potential employers. This makes it easier for job seekers to locate relevant positions and employers to get qualified staff.
It was founded by Ayodeji Adewunmi, Opeyemi Awoyemi and Olalekan Olude, and is now offering opportunities to millions of jobless Nigerians. The company recently also opened a new subsidiary in Ghana that is fast picking pace.
“For us, it was just not about putting up and making money via advertisements which was like the typical business model that most internet companies would go for,” Opeyemi Awoyemi said during a recent CNBC interview, “but we were clear on the fact that we wanted to solve problems.”
The company primarily makes money through the listing of existing vacancies by employers. It also offers career training at a fee for job seekers.
Jobberman was founded in 2009 and had only 3 cofounders who worked fulltime. Presently, the company has over 50 employees.
Olalekan Olude says that many professional companies are now using Jobberman to search for staff. Also, job seekers who have over 15 years of experience also use the service to get jobs.
With their rapid expansion and their specialized business model, Jobberman is now listed at the fifth most visited site in Nigeria. It now receives over 5,000 job applications daily. In 2011, over 10,000 people confirmed that they got jobs through the website.
Ayodeji Adewunmi expressed his expectation saying that in the next few years, Jobberman would be a Pan-African multinational Internet franchise.
Olalekan Olude also reiterates on the expansion saying, “I see Jobberman being the king also in one of our subsidiaries in Ghana and I see Jobberman being the king in the African space.”
