For HumanIPO and Kenyan accelerator/seed fund 88mph, February 17th was a big day. On Friday, they launched Startup Garage Nairobi and opened the doors to Africa’s largest co-working space for web/mobile startups.
The 800sqm space in the heart of Kenya’s capital, Nairobi (671 Ngong Road), opened its door for a closed beta launch this Friday. With its 130 workstations Startup Garage Nairobi will be used as a co-working space for 88mph’s accelerator program as well as an event venue. Its cafe and large rooftop make the location perfect for holding seminars, trainings, workshops, press conferences, etc.
“The events and networks we are looking to host here will add tremendous value to the eco-system on Ngong Road and, of course, to our program”, Nikolai Barnwell, manager of 88mph says.
Kresten Buch, co-founder and CEO of HumanIPO, sees the biggest value in Startup Garage Nairobi for startup companies with seed investment or for those close to getting one, by explaining ”This is the stage of companies’ development where the space offers the most”.
One of Startup Garage Nairobi’s first events will be IPO48 – dates to be announced by HumanIPO any time soon. This will already be the 3 rd time the 48hour investment bootcamp event takes place in Nairobi. As a special prize, winning startup(s) will get to use the workspace in the newly opened Startup Garage Nairobi.
Be sure to receive IPO48 updates here.
