Cape Town chosen as venue for a global SEO expert conference

A leading software company has chosen Cape Town as its host for a major conference on search engine optimization (SEO). Online users elected the city through ‘a popular vote.’

SEOMoz is a global organization with over 250,000 members, which makes it the biggest search engine optimization (SEO) community on the Net.

The organisation organises conferences around the world for their members to share ideas and solutions that are linked to search engine optimization practices each year.

Co-founder of White Hatters, Allen Jaffe said: “Anyone who shares a passion for SEO knows that SEOmoz is a supremely great source for SEO growth, development and knowledge. I’ve always dreamt of getting SEOmoz to Cape Town and am absolutely over the moon that it’s now a reality.”

Andre Van Kets, who is the director of Drive South Africa, teamed up with Allen Jaffe to begin a winning campaign to bring the SEOMoz meetup in Cape Town. Van Kets also had a similar passion of bringing the conference in Cape Town.

“When I saw SEOmoz’s call for MozCation nominations, it was a no-brainer to enter Cape Town. With help from a few friends in the local online industry we managed to produce an entertaining and memorable entry in under 48 hours,” Van Kets said.

He added that they submitted the entry with just over 24 hours to spare and “quickly rallied up over 200 tweets,” which were enough to make the SEOmoz community in Seattle stand up and take notice.

SEOmoz’s Chief Community Wrangler, Jen Sable Lopez said that he was excited about the conference in Capte Town. “We’ve already seen the excitement on Twitter and it will be fun to experience it in person,” he said.

The conference has been scheduled for January 2013.Online marketers, SEO strategists, digital agencies and media are urged to follow developments at the official site.
