Asha movement continues with the Touch 311 unveiling

Nokia does not seem to have had enough of the Asha movement this time releasing Nokia Asha Touch 311. The company had just last month released its Asha Touch 305 brands in Kenya.

The new phone now picks up from the Nokia Asha 305 with its touch screen features.

Commenting on the new brand, Nokia East Africa’s general manager Bruce Howe said: “We recently launched our first full touch Asha product, the Nokia Asha 305, and now add to the full touch family with the Asha 311.”

Nokia says that the engaging fully re-designed Nokia Asha Touch interface allows users to enjoy a host of mobile entertainment options with just a simple swipe.

“This is in line with our commitment to bring smartphones to the vibrant youth market at more affordable price points, while not compromising on performance and access to world class apps through Nokia Store,” Howe said.

Features of this phone don’t vary much from the 305 model. The Asha 311 has a Nokia Browser 2.0, which helps in Internet browsing. The company says it is 85 percent cheaper to browse on the Nokia Browser 2.0 than other browsers.

Nokia Asha 311 has a corning gorilla glass, protecting it from scratch and breakages. The protection glass is a common feature on touch screen smartphones. The phone is also fitted with 3.2MP cameral and has preloaded apps including Facebook, Twitter, Nokia maps and Angry Birds.

The handset also comes with an expandable storage capacity 32 GB microSD slot. It is has a dual SIM card feature.

The phone is expected to fight it out with some of the low end smartphones including, Ideos Ascend Y, Huawei Gaga, Samsung Galaxy pocket and LG Optimus L3, which have a close price range.

The newest Asha phone was formally released in July this year and is making its debut in Kenya. It is available at KSh9,900 (US$116) in major phone shops across the country.
