Umuntu Media, based in South Africa, has launched two portals for the Rwanda and Uganda Market. The portals contains “up to the minute information about entertainment, property, jobs, accommodation and news specifically relevant to people across these great countries,” their news release reported.
iRwanda and iUganda will be dedicated to inform the readers of these countries. Umuntu Media expects to also gain entrance into the competitive Kenyan market. In November 2011 they launched iBotswana and iZimbabwe. In February, iAngola was launched. Umuntu received undisclosed investment amount from eVentures to expand their websites in Africa.
Johan Nel, CEO and founder of Umuntu Media says of the new launch: “These portals will serve the people of Rwanda and Uganda with all the up to-the-minute relevant information they need about life in their town and their country. By delivering iRwanda and iUganda on multiple platforms we are changing the way the people of these countries stay up to date and keep in touch with their local community.”
The CEO told HumanIPO that as much as the two sites are young, they expect to recruit around 10,000 members for each site, every month.
This two moves brings more local content on the East African market.
