LG unveils L series Android smartphones in Kenya

Electronics giant LG officially launched its wider range of L series Android smartphone at Blancos Lounge in Kenya’s capital Nairobi.

The smartphones unveiled into the Kenyan market las week on Thursday include LG Optimus L3, LG Optimus L3 Dual, LG Optimus L4 and LG Optimus L5.
Speaking at the launch, LG’s mobile communication marketing manager for East and Central Africa Godfrey Ngure said the company’s objective is to offer high standards devices that are affordable.
He further disclosed that more than 2500 handsets have been sold within the first two weeks in the market terming it as impressive and hoping there would be “a tremendous progress.”
The phones, according to LG, have longer lasting batteries with a thin profile. They also sport LG’s Quick Memo app that supports “handwriting” using a finger or a stylus. The stylus will cost KSh500 (US$5.96) bundle for a limited period.
LG Optimus L3 is 3.12-inch-sized screen, Android Gingerbread 2.3.6, based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor (800 megahertz) with internal memory of 1GB.
Other features include 3G Wifi, 3 megapixel camera, micro USB slot, FM radio, upgrade Bluetooth 3.0, a 1500 milliampere hour and a single physical button at the bottom. It retails at KSh10,000 (US$ 119.27) inclusive of 4GB memory card
The Optimus L3 dual has almost similar features with L3 but it battery is larger at 1540 milliampere hour, two SIM cards slot with four keys at the bottom includes menu, home, back and a SIM switching key. It costs KSh11,000 (US$ 131.20).
LG Optimus L5 has 9 millimetre thick, Android 4.0.3 Ice cream sandwich, large 4 inch screen, a 5 Megapixel camera with flash, a 1500mAH battery and Near Field Contact (NFC) support. Additional features includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7225a processor (800 MHz), 3G, WiFi, FM radio and micro USB. LG says it offers High Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA) connectivity at up to 7.2 Mbps and one can own it at KSh20,000 (US$ 238.55).
The LG Optimus L7 comes with less thickness physical aspect, less than 9 millimetre, a 1 Gigahertz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 MSM7227 processor and runs Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.
It in addition features a 4GB internal memory with 3.8 GB accessible, 3G,WiFi, FM radio and micro USB, 4.3 inch screen, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, a front facing camera 1.3 MP (5MP) and a large 1700 mAH battery. The phone retails at KSh27,000 (US$ 322.04).

It has Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) that facilitates seamless connectivity with other devices including DLNA TVs through High Speed Digital packet Access (HSDPA) at 7.2 Mbps and High Speed Upload Packet Access (HSUPA) at 5.7 Mbps. It retails at KSh27,000.
