CitySlickers, one of South Africa’s biggest deal sites, has redesigned and now has a fresh new look for its clientele.
CitySlickers is an online group buying and deal site that offer up to 70 percent discounts on merchandise such as designer clothing, branded fashion accessories, home and kitchen products, selected wines, popular getaways, restaurants and lifestyle activities.
The new site was in BETA and went live on August 24 with its brand new look. The new design is aimed at enhancing the site’s business objectives while making it attractive for consumers.
“Members of CitySlicker now have access to a broader offering of flash sales and deals organized by location and category. The new categories include Fashion, Home, Eat & Drink and Getaway, on top of the usual City deals,” CitySlickers said in a press statement.
CEO of CitySlicker Olivier Chas said that the new development was driven by the growth of the flash sales for fashion, home and wine products that the site hosts.
“Flash sales featuring fashion and home product brands alone have increased threefold over the past 3 months. We needed to guide our members better through our offering. Some members join specifically for the fashion sales, others for the getaway or restaurant deals. They all want to be in a position where they can go straight to the deals that interest them most,” he added.
Competition is rife in South Africa in terms of deal sites. Group buying has become a huge trend in recent years with the world leader Groupon setting up shop in the country. Other sites like YouDeal are also adding on to the competition.
The CitySlicker site was first launched in 2011 and has since grown rapidly. It originally started operating in Cape Town and now is in two other South African cities: Johannesburg and Pretoria.
