Global provider of enterprise grade satellite communication services ITC Global has confirmed its entry into an agreement to acquire privately-owned Spidersat Communications, an integrator of global satellite-based communication services.
The two will jointly provide coverage, service and local support available in Africa for mining and mining-related customers. ITC Global expects the transaction to close within the next 30 days.
Joseph Spytek, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of ITC Global, said in a statement that Spidersat would cement his company’s position across Africa by offering complementary set of services and resources for enterprise clients.
“We are happy to have the Spidersat team join the ITC Global family, and together we will continue to provide premier, custom communications solutions to the mining and oil and gas industries across Africa,” he remarked.
Spidersat’s acquisition comes within months following a major investment in the company in January this year by a US-based private equity firm the Riverside Partners, part of the company’s global strategy.
The firm confirmed that since the Riverside Partners’ investment, it has expanded its global enterprises including into the UK, Canada as well as entering into a long-term strategic partnership in the maritime ventures with Imtech Marine.
“Our key markets such as Burkina Faso, Liberia and the DRC will be highly additive to ITC Global’s already strong Africa footprint, and our local approach to satellite communications will be strengthened under the ITC Global umbrella,” said Spidersat’s managing director Mike Hennessey, as quoted in a statement released yesterday.
Tanzania-based Spidersat is one of Africa’s top corporate communications provider with offerings ranging from custom networks and bandwidth access to enterprise customers. In addition, it offers fixed VSAT solutions and mobile satellite solutions.
The firm is renowned for having deployed reliable communication solutions in some of Africa’s remote regions. The firm has operations in Ghana and Western Australia.
ITC Global’s latest acquisition comes less than a month when it acquired the remaining interest in ITC Guinee SARL, bringing ITC Global’s ownership to 100 percent of ITC Guinee SARL.
In the recent months, ITC Global has showed commitment strengthening its might in Africa as a leader of satellite communications services.
