African telecom firms to be part of the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2013

Vodacom and Airtel, two of Africa’s most influential telecoms, will be part of the next GSMA Mobile World Congress to slated for February 25 to 28 2013 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain.

GSMA has announced the launch of the conference to bring global telecom players to one venue to discuss issues affecting the telecom industry and to showcase various case studies from the companies.

The organizer GSMA has already given the theme for the congress: “The New Mobile Horizon” will be the maiden focus for the conference.

Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA said, “Following the tremendous success of the 2012 event, we’re excited about building Mobile World Congress in its new home, Fira Gran Via.”

He added that the attendees will be able to see the latest mobile trends in whichever form. There will be exhibitors showing of new technologies and conference sessions to discuss emerging trends in the mobile telephone sector.

Michael O’Hara also promises a packed, seamless and interesting sessions and say that the organization has an outstanding programme planned for the event.

The conference plans to include up to 10 keynote sessions. “In addition to thought-provoking keynote sessions, the 2013 conference will also include in-depth track sessions exploring a range of topics such as applications, business strategy, cloud computing, connected living, developing markets, devices, mobile advertising, mobile health, mobile money, next-generation technologies, NFC, OSS/BSS and social media, among other subjects,” GSMA said.

Other interesting subjects to be discussed at the congress will include Mobile applications, mPowered brands that will look at mobile marketing, LTE, Mobile Cloud and Mobile Security

GSMA is an organisation that looks at the interest of mobile operators worldwide and has over 800 companies under its flagship.
