Kenya ICT board and KITOS partners with AITEC Africa

The Kenya’s information and technology pioneering group Kenya ICT Board and the latest Kenya IT and Outsourcing Services (KITOS) have partnered with the giant technology event organizer AITEC Africa to be in charge of East Africa ICT Summit with Kenya as the host country.

East Africa ICT conference is ranked as the largest annual ICT conference and exhibition in the area where IT experts, government officials leaders and business people will meet to share ideas.

This year’s event will be held from October24 and 25 in Kenya’s capital city Nairobi at Oshwal Centre in Westlands.

Government officials, scholars, and technology and business leaders from across East Africa are expected to attend.

According to the organizers, 2012 theme would be “Smart Cities, Smart Communities, Smart Enterprises,” IBM has been championing smart city management with its technology and systems across Africa and will take a centre stage during the event with its smart Solutions Partner for technology solutions and demos.

“The annual AITEC East Africa ICT Summit has been and will continue playing an important role continue role in the region.Sharing of knowledge leading to inventions and innovations is now possible,” Kenya ICT board chairman Paul Kukubo said.

Kukubo further stated that the event is targeted at encouraging ICT professionals to come up with innovation that triggers the country towards socio-economic progress and the board is proud to host the upcoming event with KITOS.

KITOS chairman Tej Bedi said this year’s theme would be important as the government and private sectors plunge into technology. The aim is to facilitate prompt services courtesy of technology from the government to citizens in managing public transport, energy, security, water and other government services to improve the living standards of people in the city.

During the AITEC East Africa summit, World Bank and Kenya ICT Board will co-host an Open Data conference stream./p>

AITEC Africa was established in 1987 as and ICT publishing, event management, professional development and training in Africa.

The company’s major focus is to provide Internet, computing and telecommunications knowledge in African English speaking nations. This will be to upgrade with the innovation of technology such as GSM, CDMA, and cloud computing.
