You can now buy a Wi-Fi controlled drone from an online store in South Africa and control it using any smartphone.
EasiOnline.com store now offers the Parrot AR Drone 2.0. Initially meant for fun and games, the drone has a camera installed and users can record footage from the flying gadget to their smartphones.
The camera aspect has earned the gadget the name “spy” tool.
This drone can be controlled by Android and iPhone smartphones that have Wi-Fi capabilities. Tablet gadgets can also be used to fly the drone.
The tool has an onboard Wi-Fi system that can communicate with the controlling device, though users will need to purchase a separate compatible connection, according to the company.
“It’s a flying model, and allows users to experience something sophisticated and yet durable, and in purchasing the Parrot quadricopter, and taking it out for a spin using a Smartphone, you aren’t doing anything illegal,” the company said.
Camera drones such as these are usually used to record footage from a large event as they give quality footage without being intrusive. The Parrot AR Drone will cost users R3392 (US$410) to acquire.
EasiOnline is one of the growing e-commerce websites in South Africa following its launch in June this year.
Just after its launch, the site started selling wine online. It currently has over 20 categories of good on offer.
