Nigerian enterprise solutions firm Afrigrants Resources has launched a crowdfunding app targeted at helping businesses and non-profits seek grants from international donors.
Called the Seeker, the grant management and proposal-writing software allows social enterprises to manage and coordinate multiple grant application processes and enhance project management and reporting.
In addition it stores large volumes of information.
Speaking at the launch in Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos, the partners Funmi Balogun, Doris Mbadiwe, Thelma Ekiyor and Akin George Taylor, made the case for the application of the software to aid Africa’s social enterprises.
According to the partners, they decided to pursue the project after spending several years helping enterprises negotiate the more complex aspects of the sector, especially in Africa.
“Most social enterprise workers [in Africa] are faced with challenges of writing good business proposals and letters that will attract sponsorship from donor bodies, and most of them do not have the skills of proper accounting records that will boost their chances of getting sponsors to finance their projects,” Funmi Balogun said.
With the Seeker, the users’ listed challenges will not only be addressed, but they will also be helped in sourcing for donor agencies with grants to offer.
Other features of the software include proposal, concept note and letter of inquiry wizards, implementation plan templates, letters templates, narrative and financial report tools, comprehensive data repository, seeker organiser, donor directory, user-friendly interface, save to DOC and XLS formats, help and support.
