The second edition of Pivot25 is set to take place on 5th and 6th June 2012, in Nairobi Kenya.
This year’s event dubbed PivotEast, is another chance for East Africa’s developers to showcase their innovations to investors, telecoms operators, mobile device manufactures, development partners and other key industry players across the Globe.
Pivot East is an initiative of m:lab East Africa to showcase the region’s mobile applications development talent and mobile entrepreneurship. m:lab East Africa is a consortium comprising iHub, eMobilis, the World Wide Web foundation and the University of Nairobi’s School of Computing and Informatics. Samsung is the latest entry partnering with m:lab East Africa, as a sponsor.
This is a follow up of Pivot25 that took place in 2011, that attracted over 100 entries from East Africa in five different categories that culminated in 25 of the best applications competing at the June 2011 pitching conference. Winners from each category received a cash price of $5000, and the best the overall winner, MedAfrica (then MedKenya), won a fully paid trip to pitch their application at DEMO.COM in Silicon Valley. There they were voted one of the top ten applications at DEMO.
The online registration process for developers and mobile entrepreneurs who would wish to take part as contestants is open on the website www.pivoteast.com, submissions deadline for all of the following categories is 11.59pm on 31st March 2012.
