iPad Mini launch possibly on October 23, reports say

A popular tech blog with reportedly close ties to Apple insiders has reported that the invitation-only special event scheduled for October 23 by Apple is where they will be launching their much-rumoured iPad Mini.

Apple has been having problems with “insider” leaks recently, as demonstrated by the recent iPhone 5 launch, when every piece of information and photos regarding the iPhone 5 pre-launch provied to be correct.

AllThingsD reported in August 2012 and recently reiterated that Apple will hold a special event in October, at which it will showcase a new, smaller iPad. It reported “People familiar with Apple’s plans tell us that the company will unveil the so-called ‘iPad mini’ on Oct. 23 at an invitation-only event.”

AllThingsD further added: “That’s a Tuesday, not a Wednesday, so this is a bit of a break with recent tradition. It also happens to be just three days prior to the street date for Microsoft’s new Surface tablet and two days before Apple reports earnings for its latest quarter. Sources declined to specify where the event is to be held, and I’ve not been able to confirm a location.”

Although details seem to be slim and a bit sketchy regarding the October event, it is reported that the iPad Mini is likely to feature a 7.85-inch liquid-crystal display and a Lightning connector. It is also said to be thinner.

We’ll surely be able to confirm this (or not) in just over a week’s time.
