Kaspersky Lab African operation gets new head of operations

Global antivirus vendor Kaspersky Lab has appointed Riaan Badenhorst as its head of operations, taking charge of the company’s operations in close to 40 African countries for the next three years.

“I am honoured to have been appointed in this role for Kaspersky Lab in South Africa,” said Badenhorst. “In the local region, we will work hard on expanding our reach and service offerings, paying special attention to developing our channel and supporting our partners, soon we will be able to present new services for our African business customers.”

According to Kaspersky Lab, its aim is to strengthen its presence and growth within the corporate solutions market.

Commenting on the appointment, Kaspersky’s managing director Vasily Dyagilev said: “Our aim is to become the number one IT security vendor in South Africa and the leader in the African region within the next 3 years. It is for this reason that the company recently undertook a restructuring process within its office located in Johannesburg, South Africa.”

With more than 15 years of experience in the broader IT industry, Badenhorst has acquired extensive knowledge of IT over the years and, according to Dyagilev, the company is looking forward to the value this will bring to its brand in Africa.

“We want to become number one among the IT security vendors in South Africa. Our goal for other territories remains to enlarge the partners’ database and increase our share in all segments,” Dyagilev said.

Established in 1997,Kaspersky Lab is an IT security vendor and currently among the world’s top four giant antivirus vendors. In 2009, the company opened an African centralised office in Johannesburg, South Africa to roll out its range of security products to the entire regions.
