Google Nigeria will be hosting over 100 active Nigerians on Google+ on October 18 to celebrate top Google Plus users at an event that will witness the launch of +Naija, a short documentary about Nigerians on Google Plus.
Google says that the event was specifically created to celebrate top G+ users that have been inspiring other Nigerians to connect, share interests and network on the platform.
Google announced recently that Google Plus now has more than 250 million users globally, making it the fastest growing social network.
Google said that the social network is popular among Nigerian Professionals, and has over one million brand pages that now give brands and companies in Nigeria and the rest of the world a chance to build social relationships and share anything with their followers.
Juliet Ehimuan, Country Manager of Google Nigeria said:“We have been hearing all sorts of exciting stories about how Nigerian professional are using Google Plus to positively impact the lives of other Nigerians. An example of such is Emeka Njoku Thaddaeus, a teaching assistant at the University of Ibadan Distance Learning Centre who uses Google Plus to foster e-learning at his university.”
Google Plus is said to have gained more popularity in Nigeria when it launched its SMS service, which has made it possible for everyone to access the network on all mobile devices, regardless of whether they support data or not.
Its features, including Circles, Hangouts and Sparks, have given Google a unique human touch, something that is yet to be implemented in many other social sites.
