Hewlett Packard’s South African division today announced that Doug Downing has been appointed as the new Industry Standard Servers (ISS) Business Unit and Sales Manager for Enterprise Group (EG) in South Africa.
HP SA says the appointment is effective immediately.
Downing has been acting in the role since December 2011, after David McMurdo moved over to the ESSN Country Manager role.
Downing’s responsibilities will include driving the sales of the ESSN business at HP South Africa, balancing revenue across the division’s three revenue streams as well as growing the relationship between HP and its channel.
He began his HP career in what is now known as PPS (Printers and Personal Systems), which was called PSG at the time, as Category Manager for Value Segment, in February 2009. He joined ESSN Direct Sales in July 2010 as a Volume Direct Sales Specialist where he successfully developed and grew his customer base.
On Downing’s appointment, Frank van Rees, Managing Director, HP South Africa, said: “I would like to congratulate Doug on his official appointment and wish him every success in driving the ISS Sales Team.”
Downing is a member of the EG management team and will report directly to van Rees.
HP also has a premier Europe, Middle East and Africa client event, HP Discover, which will be taking place Dec. 4-6 in Frankfurt, Germany.
