MTN lines up six speakers for AfricaCom 2012 conference

MTN has said it will have a bigger presence in the upcoming AfricaCom conference, lining up six speakers from the company and showcasing its MTN Play portal.

For six years running, the telecoms firm has been a sponsor of the conference, which brings together various players in the telecommunications industry.

“Our increased role at AfricaCom is evidence of MTN’s commitment to leading key debates in the telecoms industry on the continent. Furthermore, being part of the event helps us to exchange ideas with like-minded leaders on the continent, and from around the world”, said Rich Mkhondo, Executive for Corporate Affairs, MTN Group.

The MTN Group will invite the following speakers:

Khaled Mikkawi – CEO, MTN Rwanda. Will speak on Mobile Money Lab, business models and partnerships for mobile money.

Zunaid Bulbulia – Chief Financial and Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer, MTN South Africa. Will have the Opening Keynote for a panel tackling Innovation or Disruption? Debating the Role of New Players in the Digital Ecosystem.

Mike Fairon – General Manager, Products, Services and Innovation, MTN South Africa. Will have the Opening Keynote for panel discussing Handset and Smart Devices Vision for Africa.

Omatsola Barrow – Sales and Distribution Executive, MTN Nigeria. Will speak on CEM stream, examining the importance of distribution channels in the customer experience.

Kanagaratnam Lambotharan – Chief Technology Officer, MTN South Africa. Will court the discussion on LTE stream, LTE deployment in Africa: Operator’s experience.

Robert Madzonga – Chief Corporate Services Executive, MTN South Africa. Will host a regulatory session panel, Regulator/Operator panel: Debating the needs of the market to promote growth through effective regulation.

The AfricaCom is in its fifteenth year and attracts over 7,000 people and 300 exhibitors. The conference has since hosted over 200 speakers from 105 countries. This year’s conference is scheduled for November 13 to 15 in Cape Town, South Africa.
