In a SENS message released last week Friday, Dr. Mathews Phosa revealed that he will be stepping down as the chairman of EOH, a South African JSE-listed ICT company.
Phosa, who is also the treasurer general of the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party, decided to step down as independent non-executive chairman of EOH with effect from November 30, 2012.
The statement reads: “In compliance with paragraph 3.59 of the Listings Requirements of JSE Limited, the board of directors of EOH (‘the Board’) hereby notifies its shareholders that Dr. Nakedi Mathews Phosa has decided to step down as Independent Non-Executive Chairman of EOH (‘Chairman’) with effect from 30 November 2012 as a result of his other
considerable commitments. However, Dr. Phosa has agreed to make himself available to assist EOH wherever he can in the future.”
Phosa has served the ICT company as chairman for nine years. During his tenure,
the company has grown in excess of 40 percent per annum to become the leading
IT service provider in South Africa.
He is also a qualified attorney and has previously held several positions in government.
EOH further expressed their gratitude by saying: “The directors, management and staff of EOH, would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr Phosa for his significant contribution during his tenure as Chairman and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
A new chairperson is expected to be appointed although EOH is yet to divulge information as to the possible replacements and when the new chairperson would take over.
