Pivot East, a mobile and Web competition slated for June 5 and 6, 2012 at the Ole Serani Hotel in Nairobi has announced its semi-finalists.
Previous year’s category prize comprised a US$5000 takeaway.
Contesting companies and individuals spread out from the six of East African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan and Somalia.
The semi-finalists have been classified into groups of five where each category includes 10 contestants.
In the list for the financial services category include Chamapro, Changamka, Future Magnets, Kwachu Tiko, mCollector, MobiKash, mPermit, M-Tafiti, Pay4Us, QuickElec.
AFRILANCE, Art Pakacha, Dairy Sacco App, Easy Order, Get-it! app, MyBusiness App, PROCUMENT OFFICE, SMS Based Health Insurance Members Verification, SMS Offline and Online virtual Market place and Wakili will fight it out for the Business and Resource Management category.
The Entertainment category will see Andromaid, AngryKenyans, KenyanEnt, Ma3racer, Mag Preview, Magazine, Mingle, Run For Afrika, Tough Jungle and TUBET.
Investment fund winners at the IPO48 competition- 6ix Degrees in 2011 along with Crowdpesa, Itravel, Mafuta Go, Mare-Mare, Migwa, mTracker, m-verified, Smart Drive 360 and Tell-a-Friend make up the Utilities category.
The semi-finalists are now expected to polish their business ideas and complete their products to fully functional and deployable versions in readiness for the selection of the final 25 teams.
