Nigeria’s top bank introduces customized Naira MasterCard

First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), a major first generation Nigerian bank, has introduced a debit Naira MasterCard that allows the bank’s teeming customers to personalize their cards by capturing their individuality on the card.

The bank in a statement said FBN customers now have the liberty to create their own design for electronic cards. For instance, parents can now have pictures of their babies’ first steps; couples can design theirs with images taken during their wedding day; while soccer fans can have their debit cards in the color of their favorite football clubs and players.

This innovation, according to FNB< is another milestone recorded by the bank which recently achieved the feat of launching Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Transfer service which enables individuals without bank accounts or electronic cards to receive funds from FBN ATMs across Nigeria.

With the new card innovation, the bank believe that holders of such cards now have the feeling that they are in charge of their money – whether they out shopping or the card is kept in their wallets.

Commenting, the bank’s head of e-business group, Chuma Ezirim referred to the card as one that customers can call their own.

“Talk about a card you can really call your own, that’s what ‘expressions’ is all about. Rewarding our esteemed customers with the freedom to determine the design of their Naira MasterCard is the bank’s way of appreciating their patronage and restating our commitment to constantly seeking creative ways of delighting our customers,” he said.

The process of getting the card starts online. Interested customers are required to visit Firstbanknigeria.com to select a picture either from the bank’s existing gallery or from their own personal collection. The selected image will serve as the artwork on the front of the customer’s card.

“Following submission of the selected design, the personalized card would be delivered in 72 hours for Lagos locations and five business days for upcountry locations,” Ezirim said.
