Africa’s newest airline that is already shaking the market because of its anticipated low fare, FastJet has unleashed its new website and is now taking ticket bookings.
Over the coming months, FastJet says it will introduce online payment systems to accommodate mobile money payment and credit card payment.
The site embraces a neo-design with the menu for booking air tickets being very easy for customers to locate. The simple but attractive design showcases what the company has to offer including airline routes for ease of customers.
The platform has also been optimized for the mobile web, making it convenient for clients to check their flight schedules on the go.
The embrace of technology for the young airline will see it glide above the competition and David Lenigas, the company’s executive chairman, is optimistic.
“The sale of the first tickets for Fastjet anywhere in the world is a momentous day for the Company and the culmination of six months of hard work from the Fastjet team,” Lenigas said.
The company’s chief Ed Winters also commented on the great response of the public to their booking system ahead of the launch saying: “We have had a great response to our first tickets going on sale with over 100 seats sold within the first two hours for flights departing from November 29.
“Everyone at fastjet is really excited about bringing low cost air travel to the people of Africa and with prices starting at US$20 one-way excluding taxes and charges, we are making flying an affordable option for more East Africans than ever before.”
