LaserCom has announced the appointment of Mario Pereira as the new Divisional Managing Director of the personalised communications solutions company, as it adapts to the digital revolution.

Pereira will be responsible for driving LaserCom’s new strategy as it seeks to introduce new services to its existing portfolio.

Pereira said: “The global printing trend is showing a decline, which means that we have to incorporate new services into our business.

“Within LaserCom’s business as a personalised communications solutions provider, we have opportunities in the digital space (e-mail and SMS) and social media through which we can evolve and provide our clients with a wider range of value add services.”

Johan Basson, Chief Executive of Bytes Document Solutions which owns LaserCom, said: “With a strong and talented team to tackle any challenges, I believe that we have found a competent, energetic and driven leader who will ensure that LaserCom continues to deliver outstanding performance and results.”

Pereira has 23 years experience in the software and printing industry which started when he was a junior programmer at Commercial and Industrial Computer Systems (CICS) in 1975. Over the next 14 years he progressed to software manager at the company.

In 1989 he joined Software Research as software manager, and he then moved to Digitron as branch manager. He was then appointed as the general manager for The Laser Facilities Group before Xerox purchased the company 14 years ago.
