Hummba, a South African audio travel guide, has made an official announcement of a partnership with Frommer’s Unlimited for a venture that would enable the guide company diversify its travel destinations.
“Cape Town-based mobile travel guide company Tourism Radio is pleased to announce its partnership with US travel leader, Frommer’s,” said Jonathan Meyer, Hummba Content Manager.
Availableon Android and iPhone,Hummba has initially offered guides to tourists through selected destinations in South Africa.
The partnership will see the release of audio and text travel guides to a number of popular travel destinations across the world including comprehensive guides to the top tourist cities of New York, London and Paris.
“We tend to focus on walking tour tourism market. But, with our Frommers partnership, we will be rolling out 89 cities around the World by the end of the year,” Hummba CEO Mark Allewell said.
Meyer further told HumanIPO the partnership will see Hummba propelled deeper into the mobile travel guide space, producing travel guides for top tourist destinations all over the world that feature quality travel information, supplied by Frommer’s.
Destination information will include Frommer’s recommended restaurant, attraction, nightlife, shopping and hotel picks, highlighting how to travel smart and experience each city as a local. The guides can be downloaded, as standalone applications for Android and iPhone. Users can also access the guides through Hummba.
Since its launch in May 2010, the site has seen 10,000 app downloads a month and 150,000 unique visitors to its site.
Hummba’s new partner, Frommers, is a world-renowned destination publisher.
