Africell, a major Gambian telecommunications company, has been recognised for its “relentless innovations” by the Global Center for Transformational Leadership.
The centre added the telecoms giant had transformed the GSM landscape in The Gambia as it presented the Excellence Award in Leadership at Africell’s head office in the capital city Banjul.
Most Reverend Dr. Godwin Davies, the center’s president, was represented by Reverend Joseph Mensah, who encouraged all present to continue to work to make Africell, and by extension, Africa, better. According to him, The Gambia is on the map of transformation.
He noted the nation’s status as a peaceful country on the continent, and he re-emphasised the need for peace.
“When there is peace, there can be development and Africell is key to that development; hence the reason we decided to give you this award,” he said.
Present at the ceremony were Africell’s management staff including the company’s Media Consultant, Musa Sise, and the head of corporate affairs, Muhamadou Papa Leigh.
Africell’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Muhamadou Papa Leigh, was also awarded for his “noble contribution to the development of the organisation and to the community; and for his exemplary leadership in his chosen career”.
The Global Center for Transformational Leadership is a Ghana-based non-governmental organisation and leadership educational institution.
The organization holds leadership coaching, mentoring and training. It said it has been watching operations at Africell closely for various positive reasons.
