Liberia turns Postal Ministry fully digital

As Liberia works towards becoming totally digital by 2015, the Government has announced the entire operations of the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication have been transformed for the digital age.

Frederick Norkeh, Post and Telecommunications Minister, said this was the first of many steps as the country worked towards meeting the international 2015 deadline to switch off all analogue signal and migrate to digital.

He said: “Liberia was among many nations of Africa that were committed to this transformation and as such, is committed to achieving this worthy cause in the interest of the people especially those who are government’s partners in the sector.”

Norkeh was speaking at an Africa Telecommunications Day event in Monrovia on Friday, attended by representatives of major telecommunications companies operating in Liberia and broadcasting houses.

Other speakers at the event were officials of Cellcom, LoneStar MTN, Libetelco, Comium, Liberia Broadcasting System, SkyTV and Power TV.

They all reiterated their companies’ commitment to collaborating with the government to ensure the benefits of digitisation are maximized across Liberia.
