Samsung to set up engineering academy in Nigeria

Victor Odukwe, business manager at Samsung West Africa, has announced the company is set to site its engineering academy in Ogun state.

The academy will be aimed at supporting unemployed Nigerians, by empowering them with the provision of engineering and entrepreneurial skills.

According to Odukwe, the proposed academy is a part of the company’s community social responsibility (CSR) in Nigeria.

Odukwe was speaking while hosting members of the Ogun state Technical and Vocational Education Board who were on a facility tour in Lagos.

He said with Samsung’s presence in the state, participating youths would be able to create wealth for themselves in addition to the skills acquisition.

Responding on behalf of the board, chairman Doyin Ogubiyi, said the state is happy with Samsung’s interest in investing in the state.

She then urged other companies to also invest in human capital development by partnering with the state government.
