Airtel Ghana supports schools with free and subsidised data services

Telecommunications giant Airtel Ghana has partnered with Kosmos Energy Group in the production of ICT services to the Nsein Cluster of Schools in the Nsein Traditional Council of Ghana’s Western Region.

Airtel will support the institution with the provision of data services at no cost for a period of one month. Following the expiration of the free data period, it will then offer the data services at a subsidised rate.

Specifically, the company will offer the institution 50 percent discount on the data charges it incurs on the network’s 3.75G Internet bandwidth.

The partnership is part of the mobile operator’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) as it directs support at education and educational institutions across Ghana’s various regions.

Donald Gwira, Airtel Ghana’s Head of Corporate Communications and External Affairs, said: “When Airtel received the request from Kosmos to come on board in providing Information Communication Technology facility for the Nsein area, we quickly agreed because the idea tied in well with Airtel’s objectives in CSR.

“What we have done with the Nsein Cluster of Schools is similar to the arrangements we have done with other schools in the past where we encourage ICT growth.”

Airtel welcomes collaborations with other stakeholders and prospective partners who have visions that are similar to theirs.
