Prize money of €15,000 (US$20,000) is up for grabs for the best automobile app design, courtesy of Peugeot France, as it looks for aspiring innovators.
“Creativity is driving the world and Citroen knows it very well,” the introduction video on the competition website declares.
Running for the third time since 2010, the creative competition invites all aspiring and existing inventors to enter their designs that will improve driving experience for both passengers and motorists.
This year’s competition has the theme of connectivity. “A connected driver is an intelligent driver,” the competition clip says.
EasyLuggage, that makes fitting baggage into the boot easy, and other traffic information tools that enable drivers to inform others of road obstructions, for example, are used to explain the expectations of entrants.
Arnaud de Lamothe, Director of Marketing and Communication at Citroen invites anyone to “make life easier” for passengers and drivers. He adds the main questions app developers need to ask is what the car driver wants and needs.
An international jury of seven members will name the winners.
First prize will be awarded €10,000, while second and third place will walk away with €2,000 and €1,500 euros respectively.
Entries are open until the end of February next year and all entries stand the chance of their invention becoming a reality.
Lamothe said that Citroen is not only focused on the production of cars but is also catering for specific needs.
“Creative technology is more than a claim. It is the DNA of Citroen,” added Lamothe.
