MTN Ghana rewards mobile money senders and receivers with Christmas promo

MTN Ghana, in the spirit of the Christmas, will reward individuals using its Mobile Money service to money to friends, families and other loved ones during the Christmas season.

Under the customers’ reward initiative, both the sender and recipient will be rewarded with 10 Ghana cedes bonus airtime every time they transfer 50 Ghana cedis (US$26) or more via MTN Mobile Money platform.

With MTN Mobile Money, individuals can top up their pre-paid credit on MTN network in addition to sending or receiving money within Ghana; international remittances could also be handled by MTN Mobile Money. Other services supported payment of bills including MTN Post Paid, DSTV satellite television subscription, ECG Bills and school fees, all possible with the aid of a mobile phone.

“Customers can also shop online, purchase airline tickets, order and make payment for food from their favorite restaurants. MTN Mobile Money also enable customers to purchase micro insurance (Mi life Insurance) and pay for micro investment products, demonstrating the enormous potential of electronic payment platforms,” MTN Ghana’s website stated.

MTN Ghana’s Senior Manager for Mobile Money, Eli Hini, said the network is committed to appreciating its customers with promotions.

“Our aim as an organisation is to promote a cashless economy and through this promotion we are reaching out to our customers to send their usual Christmas cash gifts to their friends and loved ones through the mobile phone.”

Ghana’s largest telecoms company commenced Mobile Money Service in 2009, with the aim of making it possible for Ghanaians to make money transfers and other financial transactions from their mobile devices. The offer ends on Sunday January 6th 2013.
