The Ghanaian Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) today launched a Visa classic card in an effort that would ensure its services become more accessible and convenient to its customers worldwide.
The launching came after the bank obtained approval from Visa International, a global company with the rights to the Visa digital payments technology. ADB is now authorized to issue visa classic cards for use both locally and internationally.
The bank said in a statement, the new card would give it a competitive edge in a bid to meet its long-term plans.
ADB’s managing director of Stephen Kporzih said the new initiative would make it possible for ADB’s customers to access their accounts locally and internationally.
ADB Visa Classic Card is compatible with all Visa compliant ATMs in Ghana and can be used to make payments at merchant points directly from the holder’s ADB bank account. The card is also compatible to over one million Visa ATMs, and over 24 million merchant points across the globe.
Visa International is a global payments technology company with a presence in more than 200 countries and territories. The company has built processing networks that can handle more than 24,000 transactions per second.
Mr. Kpordzih said the use of IT platform is key to attaining the bank’s strategic plan.
ADB now seeks to increase investment in technology.
