Shell renews global storage and hosting services contract with T-Systems

T-Systems, Deutsche Telekom’s corporate customer unit and owner of former South African government-owned ICT service provider arivia.kom, has renewed its business contract with energy giant Shell.

Reinhard Clemens, member of Deutsche Telekom’s Board of Management and T-Systems Chief Executive, said: “We are pleased that Shell has renewed its contract with T-Systems. I thank Shell for their confidence in us.

“T-Systems is a truly international service provider with a broad spectrum of secure cloud computing services.”

Shell recently migrated their SAP services into the cloud, with the aim of adapting the use of ICT to business demand, and hoping to boost efficiency and reduce costs.

Under the 2008 contract, T-Systems implemented a dedicated global delivery team in all key Shell locations to ensure a robust IT environment around the clock. Additionally, 900 highly skilled Shell specialists joined T-Systems.

T-Systems will continue to provide the global petroleum company with data centre infrastructure and computing services around the world.

Deutsche Telekom, mother company to T-Systems, says it aims to strengthen its growth with cloud services over the next few years.

Some analysts have already said that Deutsche Telekom is ahead of the field with managed clouds for corporate customers.
