Interswitch clients bag awards at CBN payment systems awards

Cross River state, Halogen Security Limited, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna state have emerged winners at the maiden edition of the International Conference on Payment System.

In a statement, Interswitch said the recipients bagged the awards for their adoption of e-payment.

“All four have been recognized by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for adopting an end-to-end e-payment solution to run their businesses,” Interswitch stated.

“The awards were given to organisations in recognition of the successful adoption and implementation of e-payment services by the CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (CON).”

Cross River state won in the State Category for adopting end-to-end e-payment solution while Igabi local government won in the Local Government Area Category.

Halogen Security Limited won in the Small Business Enterprise Category, while the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) was recognised in the Special Category.

Commenting on the feat, Mitchell Elegbe, group managing director and chief executive officer of Interswitch Transnational, expressed his company’s delight because all the recipients use Interswitch’s Autopay platform.

“We are absolutely delighted that four organisations that use our Autopay platform, have won awards at the CBN’s Payment System Awards,” Elegbe said.

“The cost of operating a cash-based system goes beyond financials; it also has to do with managing available human resources. The gains of adopting e-payment solutions are enormous and we are glad and encouraged by the growing level of adoption.”
