Nigeria’s Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank) has partnered with Clickatell to allow customers to access virtual airtime top-up (VTU).
Clickatell, a firm which offers global mobile messaging and transaction services, said in a statement GTBank customers can recharge their lines by purchasing the VTU through any of the bank’s portals, including its mobile and internet banking services and mobile money.
Samson Isa, director of Clickatell West Africa, said he was confident VTU would revolutionise the telecommunications sector in Nigeria.
Isa said: “I think VTU will be a great mobile prepaid product distribution technology that will revolutionise the telecoms distribution space because of its ease of usage, security and availability.”
The company also revealed it would soon allow GTBank customers to be able to purchase BlackBerry bundles in addition to prepaid data and prepaid fixed lines services.
