Telecast, the new service by Betaworks that bundles video content into an easy package, will now offer YouTube viewers a fast and easy way to connect with their favourite video creators.
TechCrunch reports Matt Hackett, founder of the app, said the launch of the new version – Telecast 2.0 – is a result of its efforts to meet viewers’ need to interact with the video creators.
He added that YouTube and other similar environments have opened a lot of opportunities for video creators to gain a following but have not fully addressed this need.
The new version of Telecast will allow video creators to join at no cost on an invite-only basis so as to reach only those creators with real fans.
Users will then subscribe to the video creators channel of their choice in order to get push notifications directly to their iPhone or iPad whenever a new video appears on the channel.
The app allows subscribers to send questions and feedback directly to the creators unlike before when one could only post in the comments section.
Hackett added that in the next few weeks subscribers will have an option to offer financial support to video creators through the app, with creators getting 70 per cent of the revenue from the donations.
Supporters will in return receive early access to videos and be able to download and watch the videos online.
