MTN Nigeria has partnered with Cambridge Broadband Networks (CBNL) to upgrade its network and improve network capacity, responding to an increase in customers accessing the internet via 3G.
CBNL will perform the supply, installation and commissioning of new microwave backhaul equipment to improve MTN Nigeria’s network quality, as well as providing programme management, deployment and support services to ensure the smooth delivery of the upgraded network.
“We have seen a significant growth in subscribers accessing the internet via 3G over the past few years, and as a result will be modernising our network in order to expand capacity and continue delivering the customer experience and mobile access expected by our customer base throughout Nigeria,” said Olusegun Salami, senior manager of transmission access planning at MTN Nigeria.
A world leader in carrier-class multipoint microwave backhaul and access solutions, CBNL’s VectaStar platform – which is the platform to be deployed for MTN Nigeria – is in use in over 41 countries, with CBNL also having worked with MTN Nigeria on previous projects.
“CBNL has demonstrated an impeccable knowledge of our market, customer needs and the challenges we face during the network upgrade, which is testament to our strong partnership over the past six years. Based on this expertise and the high performance of VectaStar, it was only right that we worked with the company again,” Salami said.
